Today Smithfield Market, over 140 years old but on the site for almost one thousand years, is a key spot for changing food fashions, therefore making it the perfect backdrop for any restaurant. The menu is focused around find cuts of meat and seafood from across the UK. In fact, there is a special monthly selection of handpicked cuts such as English Longhorn beef from Monmouthshire and Red Hereford from Carlisle. There really is a great attention to detail with the selection of produce here and it translates into a very memorable dining experience. You can also sample Wagyu, renowned for its tenderness and succulence, this beef is derived from cows that are massaged from birth and fed beer to improve flavour. There is a cut and flavour to suit every taste bud. You can also add a skewer of Garlic King Prawns to your steak to give it an extra element of luxury and excitement.

There is more than just great steak to be had here mind, as there is also a lot of fun to be had when it comes to the deserts. We sampled the elegant rhubarb fool, with honey and ginger feuilles de brick and it really hit the sweet tooth. Perfectly made and a fantastic way to give the palate a different series of flavours after the mains. I would also highly recommend the Jaffa Cake shot to finish off with; it combined Santa Teresa Orange liqueur, Mozart Dark Chocolate liqueur and whipping cream for glorious results.
