or a small number of guests that can choose to stay in either one of five spectacular safari tents, each with their own private pool surrounded by a lush tropical garden or a stunning traditional two-storey Lumbung with a thatched roof, air-conditioned bedroom and open-air living and lounging area.

Our Lumbung ‘Barong’ was a fantastic space, perfect for a family of four in our case. We had the comfort of an air-conditioned bedroom consisting of a four-poster double bed, a single day bed and an additional camp bed for our youngest. Also, inside, there was a safe for valuables, an open hanging area for clothing and shoes, your very own fridge and a mini bar. The outside bathroom was private with its own shower and we enjoyed hot water on tap. Plenty of towels were provided in the bathroom and additional swimming towels were available to use. There was nothing overlooked or short of making your stay the best it can be in wild surroundings. The open-air lounge area downstairs was a lovely area to chill out in during the day, the kids played and it was a place to take shelter from the blistering sunshine, however at night you will be aware of the mosquitos and all the necessary precautions must be taken to protect yourselves.

Each of the three Lumbungs has access to an adequate swimming pool and sun loungers which is a necessity for cooling off after a fun-packed day of sightseeing in Ubud. The famous Monkey Forest, ancient Ubud Palace and the popular traditional market are all must-see attractions in our book! The hotel’s shuttle can be booked one hour in advance and can drop guests off at two points either in central Ubud or near the Monkey Forest for your ultimate convenience. Simply arrange at your drop off or call them one hour before you’re ready to return and they will collect you promptly.

However, if you want to indulge yourself closer to home, Sandat Glamping provides some fantastic tours, day trips, wellbeing experiences and activities on site or further afield which can be booked directly with the hotel once you have had chance to settle. The concierge can also organise massages, laundry and anything specific you desire.

Finally, we must not fail to highlight the culinary delights found in the restaurant. On our second night we decided to eat in and there was a great variety of choice of authentic traditional Indonesian and Balinese cuisine, as well as some delicious International dishes. The restaurant also caters well for children and to note there’s an unexpected yet fabulous choice of Italian pasta dishes of excellent quality to throw into the mix.

There’s not much else to say other than we would not hesitate to recommend this absolutely stunning unique glamping destination … it is tranquil, incredibly breath-taking and transports you into wild Bali at its finest.
