Smart search and voice control

Built into the Amazon Fire TV’s remote is microphone which, when tapped, allows you to voice search for TV shows, movies, actors, directors and genres using just your voice. This is a great way to cut out typing in search term as you would normally. Plus, and this is the best bit, it actually works! We found the search to be responsive and intelligent to our search commands. A great function!

X-RAY

Have you ever wanted to identify the actor in a film or a specific scene? If so, you will love the X-Ray feature on Amazon Fire TV. In the same way Shazam allows you to find out who is singing a song, this feature allows you to find out who is in a movie and then it will give you the complete back story to that actor. This allows you to check other works by a certain actor, for example.

Click the “fling” icon on your Second Screen-enabled Fire tablet to send video and audio to your big screen, or use standards like DIAL to fling services such as YouTube and Netflix from your Android phone or iPhone. Share whatever is on your small screen – including movies, TV shows, music and photos – with everyone in your living room using display mirroring. One speedy performer and smart performer          

Aside from additional functionality, the Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD also offers unbelievable streaming speeds and slick usability.

Over time and after using the device for a period of time, you will notice a significant change to your streaming experience. This is down to Amazon’s ASAP (Advanced Streaming and Prediction) technology. This tech intelligently predicts what you may watch, depending on your previous usage. So, over time, you will notice that programs buffer almost instantly and your viewing time is seamless with the click from the menu. We are noticing a slight improvement in our testing, but it is important to note that we have only used the device for a small period, so the ASAP tech might still be adapting to our viewing.

Adding to the intelligent ASAP technology, the device itself is also packed full of high spec hardware and is very fast to use. Thanks to a quad-core processor with 75% more processing power than the previous-generation Amazon Fire TV, it is easy to navigate menus and there is no lag time. Lag time is a common issues for such devices, but not this one. Plus, streaming speed is increased by  Wi-Fi support with dual-band 802.11ac. The combination of processor and download capabilities means instantaneous results.

Once content streams, a dedicated PowerVR GX6250 graphics engine provides the crytal clear images. If you are techy, then that may mean something to you. But if you are not, then just rest assured it means as more fluid experience than is offered by competitors.
