Glamping at Leeds Castle – Review

Ladies and gentlemen! Let us travel back in time and experience the wonders and excitement of medieval glamping! Our destination…? The utterly captivating Leeds Castle in Kent. Set in 500 acres of beautiful parkland; these glorious gardens coupled with the Castle`s 900 year old history are the perfect surroundings to afford a really authentic Knights Glamping experience. Each of the eight striped pavilion tents were privately commissioned to a genuine medieval design. These vibrant coloured stripy dwellings set out on the one-acre castle vineyard and named after Henry VIII`s most revered knights really do form a ‘village` in which you can lose all sense of modernity, until that is you venture inside the tent! Here you will be greeted by a twinkly little haven of luxury; a four-poster bed, a wood burning stove, crisp bedding, cosy fur throws, fairy lights everywhere! Little airbeds for the kids, these tents really are fit for a king!

The brand new toilet facilities are just a short stroll up the garden path and are situated inside the Knights Cottage also home to a spacious sitting room with chesterfield sofas and television. This is where as a guest you`ll be greeted on your arrival by Chris and Jack -two friendly faces that will literally look after your every need, deliver your breakfast, light your stove or fire and the first port of call if there`s a problem or emergency.

So once you`re in and unpacked and the kids have stopped squealing with excitement you’re free to explore the castle and its rambling estate including a medieval maze and a crazy knight`s adventure playground. But it`s as the sun sets across this green and pleasant land the magic of glamping at Leeds Castle really comes alive. On warm lazy summer evenings in the light of the moon you can eat outside as Medieval knights would have done before battle. Use of the cast iron griddle over an open fire pit is included in your stay or if cooking for yourself doesn`t sound like fun or if it`s a bit chilly then make your way to the Fairfax restaurant. The oak-beamed 17th century Hall, which offers an excellent choice of freshly prepared dishes from seasonal ingredients cooked simply is hard to resist and it`s also open for breakfast! Well worth a visit.

This truly romantic setting makes for an absolutely perfect weekend getaway, it suits couples and families with children alike. There’s plenty for families to do to keep the little knights and maidens entertained and as parents it`s not often you can offer your kids such an adventurous and exiting night away and its less often that the parents can be equally exited!

All for only: £120 – £140 per night. Children £20 per child per night.
