New London sculpture exhibition – Sculpture in the Home
`Sculpture in the Home` is a new London sculpture exhibition which aims to highlight the relevance of modern sculpture in the home and its beauty within period and contemporary interior design.
Specially created interiors by interior design agency Carter Wells bring the concept to life, with the furniture, accessories and artworks all being available for purchase.
The gallery space at Pangolin London will be transformed into a series of domestic settings, combining post-war era furnishings with modern sculpture in this celebration of British art & design.
Carter Wells, enlisted one of its represented interior design practices, Amelia McNeil Design, to transform the space using iconic pieces of furniture, textiles and sculpture to transport the public back to one of the most exciting periods of change for the world of interior design – the 50`s and 60`s.
Rarely seen altogether, Amelia McNeil will combine highly collectable pieces from designers such as Ernest Race and fabrics from the Sanderson archive alongside modern sculpture in three complete rooms within the gallery.
Combining high art with merchandising with a delicate deft approach is thanks to the creative prowess of McNeil and gallery director Polly Bielecka from Pangolin.
`Sculpture in the Home` has been a rewarding experience for Carter Wells, a boutique company that sources and manages work on behalf of interior designers and their clients.
Talking about her role Amelia comments, `Recreating complete historic room sets for Pangolin London was a huge challenge but one that was very enjoyable. I hope my translation shows how closely linked contemporary design in the 21st Century is with the past.`
`Sculpture in the Home` opens at Pangolin Gallery – Kings Place, London N1 9AG on 9th April 2014.
