Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Sligo – Review
Situated on the stunning Sligo coastline at Rosses Point, surrounded by idyllic countryside and an amazing view of Benbulben Mountain and Sligo Bay, this is a luxury hotel with some huge plus points.
With 132 rooms, an AA award winning restaurant, spa and bar, The Radisson Blu Sligo offers guests everything they require for a luxury stay in one of Ireland’s most picturesque locations. So good, you might not actually make it outside!
In keeping with the Radisson Blu ethic, the hotel was clean and comfortable, no pretence – just a good place to come and relax. The staff were all very proficient and eager to assist.
We stayed in a ground floor executive suite, and it really was a home from home. The bedroom was huge – it had to be to accommodate the large bed! The suite had a very well appointed living room, with sofas and separate table and chairs. We could have stayed here all day and night but there was much to explore.
The coastline around Rosses Point is nothing short of beautiful and can be accessed with just a short walk from the hotel.
The hotel is just three kilometres from the city centre which has art galleries, theatres, museums, an array of shops, restaurants and pubs – a must visit!
We opted to dine in the bar, partly because of the tempting ‘Black Pudding Coated Scotch Egg’ listed on the menu. What a treat! I nearly asked for another, but then received what could be ‘Sligo’s best burger’. I would return to the hotel for just either of these….
The breakfast was buffet style with a choice of either continental or cooked food. We have stayed in many luxury hotels offering a buffet breakfast and the Radisson Blu Sligo is right up there with the rest. A perfect leisurely breakfast was enjoyed by both of us.
Even though the Radisson Blu is popular for weddings, this should not affect your quiet night away. There was a 400+ wedding at our time of staying and we still had a peaceful time.
The Sólás Spa & Wellness Centre was extremely relaxing, totally chilled and an absolute pleasure to spend time in. There is an array of holistic therapies to choose from and a fabulous relaxation suite available for your use too. Other facilities include a lavish thermal suite, a balenotherapy bath, a dry flotation tank, swimming pool and sauna.
To sum up, a really excellent luxury hotel in Sligo, set in an amazing location. My only disappointment was my realisation that it was time to leave.
