St. Regis Bangkok – review

The St. Regis Bangkok is AMAZING! From the moment you step into the supremely impressive and exquisitely designed lobby to being greeted by the sartorially elegant and attentive staff you are transported to a place that will challenge every concept you have ever had of the best in five star hotel accommodation. Your senses are assaulted on every level with the sheer opulence and quality of your surroundings. Brilliantly located on the edge of the quiet business district, additionally adjacent and connected by a walkway to Rajadamri BTS Station, The St. Regis is a veritable oasis of calm and splendor midst the frenetic pace of Bangkok. It also overlooks the Royal Bangkok and Golf Club affording lovely, and rare in Bangkok, green field views from virtually every room in the building.

After a swift check-in we were shown to our spacious deluxe room. The vast floor to ceiling windows provided us with wonderful panoramic views of the adjoining park and golf course, which at night was transformed to a mass of sparkling lights.

The fresh flowers gave the room that extra touch of homeliness and modern light fixtures gave the room a subtly elegant glow. The silk paneled walls created a striking contrast to the solid wood chic furniture. The room was adorned with Thai art fixtures and the lush carpeting and plush designer upholstery added to the feeling of elegance and lavishness. The sumptuous king size bed with its crisp white luxury linen ensured we had a wonderful nights sleep. Individual preferences are catered for with the pillow menu, which is available on request.  The innovative design of the accommodation meant that the spacious bathroom could either be accessed on entering the room or, more privately, through a sliding door adjacent to the bed. With its marble tiled floor and elegant black marble surrounding the ‘his ‘n her’ wash basins, the glass paneled rain shower and free standing bath with an excellent range of luxurious toiletries, it would be impossible not to emerge feeling totally pampered.

Attentive service is a systemic part of The St. Regis Bangkok experience and to enhance that concept even further a 24-hour butler service is part of the fabric of the Hotel. What is unique in our experience is that it is available to ALL guests. Their discrete presence and natural charm ensured a completely problem free stay. There were lots of extra little touches, such as luxury chocolates placed beside the bed each evening, fruit and cheese for that extra late night snack and a variety of different types of tea and coffee. Not only could we have our suitcases unpacked and packed, but also each evening we were invited to have 2 garments ironed – all totally free of charge.

The St. Regis Bangkok offers a unique and exciting blend of culinary experiences in the large variety of restaurants on site. These range from a New York Style open kitchen Bistro to a traditional Italian with also an award winning Modern Japanese Restaurant. Added to this are unique experiences in a Gentleman’s Style Club called Decanter, The Drawing Room serving the refined luxury of afternoon tea, poolside bar and The Lounge offering gourmet treats. You can see that the hotel caters for absolutely any discerning tastes for luxury seeking travellers. We particularly enjoyed the all-inclusive Sunday Brunch experience at VIU Restaurant overlooking The Royal Bangkok Sports Club. Having lived for many years in the Far East we are well accustomed and experienced in the fantastic Sunday Brunch concept. We arrived at this beautifully designed restaurant to be assaulted by a staggering choice of dishes beautifully presented – a little like a grand master’s painting. For the next couple of hours we were indulged, pampered and spoiled with an unbelievable array of the very best in foods, wines and signature cocktails from around the world. It would be very easy at this point to descend into a litany of superlatives to describe our wonderful epicurean experience. Suffice to say that in all of our years of enjoying our Sunday Brunch experience this was definitely the best we have ever had.

There is a state of the art Business Centre, professional meeting rooms and a plethora of function rooms catering for every conceivable need.
