GILT Champagne Lounge London

Probably one of my finest drinking experiences was recently had at the GILT Champagne Bar.

Discreetly ensconced within the plush Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge, GILT offers sumptuous interiors and equally sumptuous cocktails. At top whack you’re talking about the £800 ($1300 approx) “when Louis meets Louise” cocktail that includes Louis XII Cognac, Cuvee Louise Blanc (1998) Sugar and Angostura served in a Primma Donna Moser Champagne glass.

At the more reasonably priced end of the spectrum, I can highly recommend the exquisite Bellinis. My personal favourites were:

Raspberry Bellini – Chambord, fresh raspberries, Champagne

Lychee Bellini – Lychee Liquor, Lychee juice, Champagne

Blackberry Bellini – Blackberries, Creme de Mure, Champagne

Carlton Bellini – Peach Schnapps, Peach Juice, Grenadine, Champagne

All of which were priced at £17.50 each (approx $28)

Drinks were accompanied by some phenomenal bar snacks. Signature dish being the delicious Peking duck and foie gras pancakes followed by some moreish tempura prawns. Crab and lobster spring rolls also looked like a real treat…….

The decor is 1940’s inspired, sumptuous but ambient. The main bar is constructed from a slab of golden Onyx whilst classic Murano hand blown glass screens made from approximately 4,500 glass balls shroud the walls. There is also a stunning chandelier made from 140 larger Murano glass spheres.

The discreet nature of the bar makes it the perfect place for wealthy individuals to enjoy the finest Champagne cocktails in London.
