The Best London Luxury hotel – Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel

To really simplify things, Grosvenor House is the best London luxury hotel. Fact.

I recently stayed at this iconic hotel and have to admit it scores high on all fronts. The landmark faǟ¶õade greets you along with porters in full uniform complete with top hats. It all seems very regal. There has been a strong royal connection with Grosvenor House since it opened in 1929. It`s very easy to see why.

The lobby is a hive of activity, yet check in was seamless. There are lots of nice touches to the hotel, such as the floral display in the lobby.

I took some time out and watched the guests go by and very quickly noticed something which costs nothing, but these days can seem so hard to find.

Customer service.

The staff here do a job, just like any other hotel staff, yet here they do it with care and even a little panache. And why not, this place is special.

Take the two chaps running the concierge desk. They batted away each query and request with skill and a deep knowledge of London and all its attractions and services. They also took their time with each customer.

These guys are untouchable! Their professional confident approach made me think they could do a better job than the pair we currently have muddling along in Downing Street….

Located on Park Lane, with Mayfair on one side and Hyde Park on the other, the best London luxury hotel is perfectly situated for some high end shopping at Selfridges or Harvey Nicks. We even walked to Buckingham Palace, and that was with two very young boys.

So, that`s a big tick for location, customer service and the hub of the hotel – the lobby.

The rooms, along with the rest of the hotel have undergone a massive refurbishment and are comfortable, large (for London, huge!) and current. The décor is sumptious yet stylish, this JW Marriot flagship hotel has managed to retain the tradition of the hotel and blend it with the modern day demands that guest require.

The Great Room shows just how ready this hotel is to evolve with the times. It used to be a huge indoor ice rink attracting the socialites of the time, Queen Elizabeth learnt to skate here when she was young. These days, this enormous room hosts major events like the Baftas.

We dined at the fantastic JW Steakhouse. Here you can get tender hand-cut selections of dry-aged American USDA prime beef, grilled to perfection; crisp salads, fresh seafood and mouth-watering desserts perfectly matched with great wines.

Again the service was excellent and the meal did not disappoint. The portions were huge, which is how they should be!

Even though we had eaten more than we should, we had to sample what is the best cheesecake in London. This was pure perfection on a plate. We even took what we couldn`t finish back to our room!

Everything about London`s largest 5 star hotel is faultless, exquisite excellence. The food, the staff, the location, the rooms and the general ambience make this easily the best London luxury hotel.

If you are planning on a memorable trip to the capital, you have to make this your hotel of choice. Grosvenor House do not do disappointment.
