The Beefeater Gin Distillery reveals its secrets for the first time
Beefeater Gin, the only international premium gin distilled in the heart of London, is one of the city`s best kept secrets. As part of London Open City the Beefeater Gin distillery will be opening its doors exclusively to the public on 18 and 19 September on a complimentary basis for pre-booked tours. Lussorian readers would do well to sample the drink, Beefeater has been awarded the trophy for World`s Best Gin more times than any other in the last 10 years by the International Wine and Spirits Competition, the most prestigious awards organisation for wines and spirits.
Visitors to the distillery will learn the history behind the iconic spirit by going behind the scenes. They`ll be able to view the copper pot stills used to steep and then distill the alcohol and botanicals before sampling it in their `Montford Bar`. The former 19th century Edwardian pickle factory has been home to Beefeater since the late 1950s when demand for the brand was growing overseas.
Tours at the Beefeater Distillery will take place every 30 minutes from 1-5pm during 18 and 19 September and host a maximum of 15 people per tour and will provide a unique opportunity to see how London`s very own spirit, gin, is made. To book a tour, log on to the Open City website from the 9th August.
