Suka at The Sanderson Review

I`d never been to The Sanderson before but I had experienced the witty and sophisticated St. Martin`s Lane Hotel in the central hub of Covent Garden so I knew what to expect in terms of influential Philippe Starck`s design elements. I have to say I wasn`t expecting the 50`s building architecture from the outside but as soon as we stepped foot inside the warm bar area, it`s sociable ambience felt instantly appealing. After being greeted by the inviting restaurant staff we were led into the private Courtyard Garden, which mirrored a laid back style of dining and the lush open-air oasis reminded me of somewhere oriental I had previously visited.

We started our gorgeous authentic Malaysian dining experience with a glass of champagne and we were made aware that 2 or 3 dishes would suffice whilst we were recommended beautiful dishes off the extensive menu list. I loved this informal dining arrangement and it reminded me of a much higher-end, luxury Wagamama experience in terms of the dishes being presented and ready to eat as and when ready.

We chose Butter Prawns, Scallop Skewers marinated in Chilli Oil, Roasted Halibut, Crispy Pork Belly with Black Vinegar Sauce, Mamak Barbeque Chicken, Beef Rendang and a fine selection of side orders including Coconut Rice and Roti Chanai. We were delighted with our choices and we couldn`t fault any of the dishes, they each had a stunning flavour whilst cooked to perfection but our absolute favourites were the Butter Prawns and Mamak Barbeque Chicken for their sheer flavours.

We ended this truly stunning gastronomic dining experience with a Chocolate Martini and Mangopolitan, which were guzzled down like a treat – both a must-try for all cocktails lovers! And, with the paparazzi outside when we left we felt special to have shared this experience with some of the many celebs that must have been hidden away somewhere within the hotel itself.
