South Place Chop House Review
Situated between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, this restaurant is in an ideal location for dining in London, with easy transport links from London City and surrounding areas. Located on the ground floor of South Place Hotel, South Place Chop House will not only provide you with delectable food, but also fantastic service and a great atmosphere.
About the South Place Chop House
This restaurant really is a beautiful restaurant to dine in. Filled with copper, leather, stunning light fittings and amazing artwork by Thorbjørn Andersen, the décor is modern and tasteful, adding to the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. South Place Chop House is most definitely a busy spot at the weekends, and rightly so! On a Saturday brunches include free-flowing bubbles alongside midday classics, and on Sundays they serve up the most scrumptious roast alongside with bottomless bubbles!!
The Food
The Head Chef, Guy Betteridge, should be proud of the food here. The menu is dedicated to seasonal and carefully sourced cuts of meat and freshly caught fish, modernised with continental flavours and seasoning. I had a selection of starters to sample including Chilled Vine Tomato Soup, Pigs Head croquette, Mushroom croquette, Smoked Salmon Scotch egg and Fresh Bread. All I can say is – WOW – everything was amazing, extremely tasty and very well presented.
For main I opted for the Lamb Roast, and again, there is not one fault I have at all! From the perfectly cooked lamb to the mouth-watering glazed carrots, the combination worked a treat and I can honestly say was one of the best roasts that I have ever had. The portion sizes are fantastic too which is a bonus in my eyes!
The chef very kindly put together a selection of desserts for me to sample, including Chocolate Mousse, Ice-creams and a sorbet – again, all divine and utterly scrumptious. Alongside my meal, I had bottomless prosecco, yes you read that right! Your glass never goes empty, and as an add-on for only £18 I would highly recommend it!
The service
What can I say, from the front of house to our spectacular waitress, the service here was astounding! We had the delightful Daniela serving us and she was from onset friendly and very attentive. Her knowledge of the food was superb, and she made sure that the glasses of prosecco and water were never empty. Daniela really is a true asset to South Place Chop House, as are all the staff.
Our verdict
I would, without a doubt, highly recommend visiting South Place Chop House on your next visit to London. With great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and fabulous staff there is really nothing more you would want for a fabulous dining experience.
Highly recommended.
