Old Compton Brasserie London Review

Situated on Old Compton Street in the heart of Soho, Old Compton Brasserie is the ideal place to visit for dining or drinking whilst out and about in London. Part gallery and part restaurant, Old Compton Brasserie offers a range of cocktails and contemporary British food in a relaxed yet creative environment.

The Drinks

This swish and stylish bar/restaurant features award-winning cocktails designed by The Talented Mr. Fox. Inspired by Soho’s most treasured legends, these cocktails combine bold, punchy flavours with unique ingredient combinations. There are many cocktails to choose from such as the Karl Marx (Eristoff vodka, Finlandia grapefruit vodka, Don Julio Blanco tequila, Brixton Pale Ale, Grapefruit, double Dutch tonic and soda) or the Paul Raymond (champagne, strawberry, white chocolate, and verjus, served in a faux fur jacket flute). These cocktails are very inventive and perfect for impressing that ‘someone special’ on a night out in Soho!

The Food

All I can say is WOW! British food at its best, exceptional value and generous portions – what more could you ask for? I visited here with a friend and we were both very happy with what we ordered. I opted for the Kedgeree Scotch Eggs and I can assure you that this was utterly delicious, most definitely the best Scotch Eggs I have ever tasted!

My friend chose the Crab Gratin which was also amazing! The portion size was quite hefty (which I love!) so she didn’t eat it all making sure she had space left for her main!!

For our mains, I opted for the Duck Frites. Simply a large Duck fillet cooked to perfection, served with fries and bearnaise sauce. My friend chose the Roast Salmon Fillet, served with crushed new potatoes and tartar sauce. Again, with both, every bite was divine, and the portions were aplenty.

Our waiter kindly suggested a Pinot Noir to drink alongside our meal which to me was a perfect pairing! We literally couldn’t fit anything else in when it came to dessert, so both chose another cocktail! I must recommend their Espresso Martini (a favourite of mine), such a scrumptious way to end my five-star meal!

The Service

I can’t fault the service here at all. The staff were very attentive, but not in your face the whole time. Knowledgeable of the whole drinks and food menu, and full of recommendations for dishes. Friendly, attentive, charming and fun – what more does a girl want whilst out for dinner with a friend!

Our Verdict

I couldn’t think of a better place to visit with friends on an evening on Soho. Old Compton Brasserie is full of slick artwork (there’s always something that will catch your eye), the atmosphere is extremely chilled and creative. The food is bursting with flavour, the drinks are innovative, and the staff are extremely pleasant. I would happily recommend this place to anyone who visits Soho.

Highly recommended.
