Exciting New Bone Idyll Spirit & Cocktail Range

Quite possibly the sexiest booze brand on the planet right now, Bone Idyll is the brainchild of husband and wife team, Sam, and Alex Berry, from Kingston Upon Thames. The brand is daring, eye-catching, and backed up by an incredibly delicious and well thought out product.

Currently, the range encompasses Bone Idyll speciality gins, vodka, and rums, as well as a number of popular bottled cocktails. The back story to this maverick brand is fascinating and demonstrates that ‘where there is a will there is way’! The Berry’s required funding for their ambitious dream, and instead of approaching crowdfunding platforms, the daring duo reached out to customers from across their four restaurants, which also includes No97 in Surbiton and The Hideaway in Thames Ditton. Having set an initial target of £300,000, they were blown away by the support they received from the community and were left with £500,000 to commit to the Bone Idyll project. Wow!

So with an already bought in community of customers, Bone Idyll are heading for mammoth things, and good on them. Within the distillery sit two 100 litre copper pot stills, where the magic happens every Monday and Tuesday. For the remainder of the week, customers can pop along to attend the Bone Idyll gin school and enjoy the unique experience of creating their own spirit.

We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to try the Barrel Aged Gin and Aged Rum, if the taste alone is anything to go by, the rest of the range will also be very well received.

Barrel Aged Gin 40% ABV

Having sat in a whisky barrel for 3 months, this is a hardy, woody and smoky number with gallons of personality. Its botanicals consists of orange peel, cardamom, orris, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, juniper, lemon peel, and boy, does it pack some flavour. I can’t remember tasting whisky barrel aged gin before – but I’m 100% sold!

Honestly, this is both a delicious sipping gin as well as a mixer with an unfussy tonic, with a slice of orange of course!

Aged Rum 45% ABV

New to the product line up is Bone Idyll’s Aged Rum. If you can pull yourself away from the beautiful design on the bottle and pop the lid, you’ll enter into a world of Caribbean charm. The rum is a blend of dark Guyana rum and lighter tones from Barbados and Dominican Republic.

An absolute belter of a rum that just feels right at home in the booze cabinet, not to mention the fact it adds a new level of cool to it!
