Blink Wireless Smart Home Security System Reviewed
Supercharge your home security with the Blink Smart HD home monitoring and alert system. This product has been a huge success in the US, so it makes no surprise that it has hopped across the pond for launch in the UK. Whether you are a homeowner or just looking for a little extra home security, the Blink system is an affordable and high performing system. We even found that it worked as a one-way baby monitor!
Starting from £129.99, it’s easy to secure your home with the Blink system. They are also sleek and stylish, therefore making them aesthetically perfect for any home. What’s not to love!
Here is why we think of the Blink system so highly…
How does it work and perform?
One thing that sets the Blink system apart from some of the competitors is the way in which the cameras link to the central system. Using just 2 AA batteries, the satellite cameras link up to the sync unit and provide crystal clear HD video monitoring. Using batteries rather than cables gives the system flexibility and freedom. This also makes installation and placement of the cameras super simple and easy. Brilliant!
Now, you may be worried that this battery led system results in lower quality imagery, fortunately that’s not the case. The clarity of images provided is superbly detailed and fluid. Plus, even in darkness, the image is sharp and clear too.
Handy Smartphone App with Live Functionality
To access the live video feed, you simply tap on your free iOS or Android Blink Home Monitor app and you can see the feed as it happens. Or, you can disarm and arm your device from the app. This app allows you to access these functions and the live stream from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
Motion Trigger Technology For Home Protection
If you are out and about, simply arm your camera to react to motion. The in-built sensor will then alert you via a push notification on your smartphone as to the movement. To see what caused the movement, simply click the alert and view a short clip of the motion saved to the cloud. The system includes cloud storage for your clips, so you can be sure that no unwanted movement is stored and trapped for your viewing or even evidence (if it comes to that!).
The device is also Alexa and IFTTT enabled; Control Blink with your voice or link to other IFTTT compatible home devices such as Google Home
For us, the Blink system offers a preferable alternative to traditional home security systems and CCTV. It’s cheaper to maintain, more accessible due to the smartphone application and also more flexible due to the wireless set up.
The 2 camera system starts at £199.99. Available from Amazon.
