Behold, the mighty Mermaid range of spirits

We’ve been tracking this talented, multi award winning, distillery from the Isle of Wight since its inception in 2014. Launching with their stunning Mermaid gin (still the best ever bottle design!), they’ve grown from strength to strength and launched 3 further spirits; Mermaid Pink Gin, Mermaid Zest Gin and Mermaid Salty Vodka.

Retaining their iconic bottle for each spirit, but changing the colouration, there’s no mistaking that this distillery are passionate about both their brand as well as product. What’s more, environmental impact is also high on the agenda here, with recycled and sustainable sourced materials used for bottling and packaging (read more here).

Each bottle retails for around £40, and worth every single penny!

Mermaid Gin Notes 42% ABV

A smooth, refreshing and complex contemporary style, with fresh citrus, sweet spice and gentle juniper on the nose. The taste has citrus zing, combined with peppery spice and an earthy sweetness which is complemented by a hint of sea air. A long, layered and complex finish rounds off the experience with a well-rounded mouthfeel.

Botanicals: Rock samphire, Elderflower, Juniper, Grains of Paradise, Organic Lemon Zest, Liquorice Root, Boadicea Hops, Orris Root, Angelica Root, English Coriander.

A contemporary style pink gin. Smooth, refreshing and complex with a rosy hue. The nose is flooded by aromatic strawberries, fresh citrus and gentle juniper. The taste is a vibrant berry flavour with warm spice and a hint of sea air. A long, layered and complex finish rounds off the experience with a well-rounded mouthfeel.

Mermaid Salt Vodka

First off, admire the styling of this bottle. I’m blown away by the styling, very clever way of emphasising the sea salt concept!

A delicate vein of salt creates a back note that makes this delicious vodka an essential ingredient for any well-stocked back bar – an ideal flavour enhancer for adventurous cocktails, or a classic dirty martini. Distinctive and unique, Mermaid Salt Vodka is a favourite with creative mixologists, adding a hint of sea air to their creations.

A smooth and subtle contemporary style vodka, Mermaid Salt Vodka provides fresh sea air on the nose and a delicate savoury salt flavour. The finish is clean and long.
