5-star Luxury Grosvenor House Hotel Park Lane London Review

We approached Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane via the more discreet rear entrance; upon arrival the hotel`s lobby appeared grand as well as spacious but yet incredibly warm and inviting. The ambience felt tranquil with lots of guests milling around, engaging in quiet conversations and relaxing on the comfortable plush seating area.

Grosvenor House is famously known for royalty and celebrities frequently visiting this hotel and to be honest it`s no wonder with its fantastic views over Hyde Park. It`s so incredibly huge that anyone could be staying on any of the floors and no one would ever know! Surprisingly, the hotel has a discreet and intimate feel. However, the hotel retains its tradition for having exceptional style, service and facilities expected from a 5-star luxury hotel in London. After checking in we were properly greeted with a big smile from one of the duty managers, which was a lovely personal touch. From the very beginning we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble and if we needed anything, it would be taken care of.

We made our way up to the 6th floor and eventually arrived at our room 648, right at the end of the corridor. When we opened the door, we realised we had been given a suite to stay in – it was magnificent and extremely comfortable. The space comprised of a large separate living and dining room, a spacious marble bathroom and huge bedroom. As there were two of us staying that night we requested the king size bed to be turned into two twin beds and within about 10 minutes there was a team who attended to our needs – the service was second to none and incredibly efficient. Shortly afterwards our fresh fruit bowl and bottled water arrived along with an extensive tea & coffee tray. We also had the advantage of having WiFi throughout the suite, something that would be essential for guests staying here on business; however, we didn`t have any need to dip into any work that day. We enjoyed an afternoon of snacking on fresh fruit and watching mindless TV, something personally, I never get time to do.

In the evening we made our way down to JW Steakhouse, which led us right past the tempting looking deli. Having eaten at this steakhouse before I wanted to try something different to what I`d previously had, although I didn`t think anything else could beat it. How wrong was I? My guest didn`t have a starter but I indulged in the cream of crab soup, which was utterly amazing. I still have the taste and flavours in my mind. The texture was so smooth and it had soft flakes of crab running through it – it was truly divine and very rich, just to my liking! Next for mains we both choose the spit roasted half chicken with lemon thyme sauce on the side. To accompany this deliciously melt-in-the-mouth dish, we ordered French fries, hand cut chips, sautéed wild mushrooms and a side of Bourbon peppercorn sauce. The entire meal was gorgeous, hearty and so delicious, and everything we chose was served in substantial portions. Therefore, this didn`t leave us any room in our tummies for dessert… Although I did feel a bit guilty, as I had been given a recommendation to try the JW Cheesecake and I thought rude not to so I took the entire thing up to the suite.

After watching X Factor it seemed like the perfect opportunity to sample the cheesecake – OMG it was amaaazing! It was so creamy and I loved the ginger biscuits, which were not only on the base but around the whole thing too – definitely the best cheesecake I have ever tasted. There is a slight warning that goes with this cheesecake. Basically, it`s HUGE so it`s probably best to share it with someone if you can bear to. After a more than satisfying supper and with a heavy day the following day we sunk into our wonderfully soft beds and had the best night`s sleep in a long time.

Before bed time we opted to have breakfast in our very own dining room and at 8am on the dot we received a beautifully laid breakfast table, which included a huge bowl of homemade granola, vanilla yoghurt, tea & hot chocolate, toast, preserves and a bag of homemade muffins as well as brown & white bread rolls. It was so lovely to have a civilised breakfast within our own space and lets face it there`s no point in acquiring it if you don`t use it. Overall it`s fair to say we had a magnificent stay, one that we will never forget.
