New BMW to hit USA and UK in Summer 2014

The BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupé is expected to hit US showrooms later in the year, and will be available at UK dealerships from the 12th of July 2014 onwards.

Offering the elegance and appearance of a coupé and the performance and presence of a ‘soft-roading’ vehicle (i.e. it is not meant to actually ford every stream or climb every mountain), the X4 is none-the-less expected to by quite potent.

In the US, it will be offered in two TwinPower engine (turbo) choices, with the bigger choice offering 300 hp and the ability to get from zero to 100 km/h in 5,2 seconds.

Featuring BMW’s excellent progressive drive system (all-wheel-drive) and automatic 8-speed Steptronic sport transmission, this vehicle will be available in the US under the badge ‘X4 xDrive35i’.

British consumers will have a choice of three TwinPower Turbo diesel engines. Meeting the necessary EU6 standards to keep CO2 emissions and fuel consumption to a minimum, these engines ensure performance is well maintained.

Standard models will include split-folding rear (40:20:40) and heated front seats; leather sport steering wheel; Business Media package and, of course, the intelligent xDrive drive system (all wheel).

Variable Sport Steering; automatically opening tailgate and 18-inch wheels (light-alloy); Park Distance Control (front and rear), Xenon headlights and Performance Control are also standard.

A Few Facts and Figures

A length of 4.671 m and a height of 1.624 m make the X4 slightly longer and closer to the ground than its predecessor, the X3. Cutting a dynamic profile with perfectly balanced proportions, the X4 has a distinctive sporting character and a load capacity of 500 to 1,400 litres.

Front apron character lines and large air intakes on the front end’s outer edges combine with fog lamps below the vehicle’s signature twin headlights to provide sharper dynamics and an agile, muscular appearance.

Synthesising exclusivity and `sportiness` in a most harmonious manner, the interior features premium materials designed to create an ambiance of luxury. This includes use of subtle accents; strips of aluminium trim within the wood panelling and a black-panel (high-gloss) look.

The Price of the new BMW X4

While the price for this car has as yet not been specified for interested parties in the USA, UK consumers can expect to pay from around £36,590 ( X4 xDrive20d SE; on-the-road), although adding one or several of the array of possible optional extras will obviously increase this figure.
