Gatwick Hilton Review – Stress free travel from Gatwick
Why does stress and travel sometimes go hand in hand? Is it the crowds? The strict security? The essential time-keeping?
How do you make it less stressful?
It’s all about the prep. After staying at Gatwick Hilton an evening before we were due to fly, we can confirm it is definitely all about the preparation.
In fact, the best way to travel stress free from Gatwick is by booking yourself an executive room – which comes with access to the executive lounge: a haven of peace within such a busy place.
We were due to fly early on a Monday morning. Rather than battling the M25 and on to the M23, we thought it wise to stay overnight at Gatwick – The Hilton was the obvious choice.
Located in the South Terminal, you are never far from your departure point. If you do have an early morning flight, you should consider staying at the Gatwick Hilton.
I don’t mind admitting that both Wife and I were feeling a little sore from a brilliant Saturday night with friends. In fact, we needed somewhere like the Hilton to recharge. Knowing that we were in ‘the right place’, with a good night’s sleep still to come was a comforting thought!
We checked in at 14.00 and were told by reception to head up to the Executive lounge for a complimentary afternoon tea… Brilliant.
We dropped our bags off at the room, had a very quick inspection of room (Impressed) and went to relax in the lounge. The afternoon tea was lovely and kept us going until later that evening (more of that to come).
We spent a couple of hours watching a film back in the room and then returned to the lounge. The executive room we stayed in entitled us to complimentary hot food and snacks from 18.30 – 20.30.
With cous-cous, chicken wings and plenty of cold snacks on offer we had a feast. The lounge really is a marvel, when you consider where it is in relation to the calming ambience it holds. We loved it.
If you are still not sold on an executive room at Gatwick Hilton, as well as the hot food on offer, there is a ‘free bar’ where beers, wines and spirits are all available on a self-serve basis.
We had no issues with the staff, who were always professional and helpful. The rooms was immaculate (I did the ‘dust on top of the door frame’ test, they passed).
And how exactly do you get to sleep when you are slap bang in the middle of an airport? You just do. Comfortable beds (and a little free booze) and sound proofed windows mean the jets that fly overhead are only heard when you listen out for them.
Each of the 821 rooms has high speed internet available, with Park and Fly options for residents who have pre-booked.
For us, this is now the only way to travel out of Gatwick.
