Glamour and fast action hits Hurlingham Park in on 5th – 6th June this year, when the World Polo series comes to town. Fulham and Parsons Green will be teaming with the bold and beautiful as teams from New York, Moscow, Barbados, Geneva, Milan, Durban and Sydney compete against each other in a fast moving and exciting version of this traditional sport.

Visitors to Hurlingham Park can experience a close up of the action as the games will be played on a pitch half the size of a normal pitch and be treated to high drama as many of the rules have been changed to promote a faster slicker game. The organisers are putting together an amazing event as well as the sporting action; there will be a number of pitch side bars, the Verve Clicquot Champagne Garden, Luxury Village, Food Market including Argentine BBQ pits and a Kids Zone. During the event, as well as the polo matches there will be polo displays, jousting, stunt riders and cheerleaders that will add more excitement to this highly visual sporting experience. This promises to be a great day out for those who love polo and those who have never experienced the sport before.

Polo is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with a dramatic increase in players under the age of 18. At the event visitors will be able to find information and advice on how to start playing this exciting sport from the many experts that will guide them in the right direction.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to Hurlingham Park for a mini preview showcasing what visitors will expect from attending the event in June as well as being treated to a polo lesson with experts from the club itself. Within 40 minutes of learning the basic rules along with a comprehensive demonstration and practice session using the various swings with the polo stick, I found myself mounted on a highly trained pony and scoring my first goal! Needless to say I am now completely addicted and keen to play more.

More than 32,000 visitors are expected to attend the event in June to cheer team London to victory. There are a number of different tickets including general admission, Grandstand or a number of exclusive hospitality packages.

Information can be found on the MINT Polo in the Park website.
