The Ampersand Hotel Review
A brand new luxury boutique hotel in the centre of London?
Modern styling and quirks throughout?
Relaxed yet of the highest quality?
That will be the Ampersand then.
Yes, This new boutique hotel in London delivers exactly what I imagine it had set out to do – oodles of class, contemporary design and a little bit of fun.
And, cleverly this boutique hotel in Kensington does all this modern cool whilst retaining a `homely` atmosphere.
The Ampersand is slap bang in the middle of Kensington with the capital`s best museum`s a stone`s throw away, literally. With this in mind, the décor is based on the themes of botany, music, geometry, ornithology and
astronomy throughout the hotel.
It is these themes that provide the hotel`s quirks, inspired text flows throughout the hotel`s corridors. You may find yourself ambling along taking it all in rather than a route 1 approach to your room.
The rooms continue with the themes. I stayed in a deluxe room, complete with ornithology designs. Spacious and well furnished, stylish and comfortable. The bed is like a giant marshmallow – I slept really well. (noise pollution, centre of London – I didn`t hear a thing)
The basement of The Ampersand is where the action is. The bar / restaurant Apero is accompanied by a reading room (well stocked, I could have spent the day reading from the interesting and varied collection on offer).
Apero dining is positively Mediterranean, with an emphasis on sharing.
The bar is inviting and on the night I was visiting, the barman was expertly providing a sampling session of the various whisky`s on offer. It would have been rude not to get involved….
The Ampersand is the new kid on the very posh block and it sits well. It looks like they have nailed any teething problems, my stay was fluent and very enjoyable.
If you are looking for a contemporary hotel in central London, the Ampersand passed all of Lussorian’s requirements, it’s well worth a stay.
