Nightlife Entrepreneur Gerry Calabrese Launches Baroque*
* Ba•roque: A period of dramatic, elaborate artistic style that changed European trends forever; whilst capturing the imagination of Louis VIX. A movement which interprets detail to produce drama, exuberance and grandeur, reflected throughout every faction of the arts.
Old world style and extravagance are back with a vengeance. Look no further for the epitome of vintage style and luxury, embodied in this incredible new venue; bringing classic Hollywood glamour into the 21st century
Gerry Calabrese has quickly built up a reputation as one of the modern greats in the London bar and club scene. Following a successful run at some of the city`s top restaurants and hotels, Gerry successfully moved into London`s nightlife scene before finding his real passion as a cocktail mixologist at some of the capital`s top venues. In May 2008 Gerry launched his own award-winning East End bar The Hoxton Pony- famed for its impressive cocktails, before turning his attentions to creating Hoxton Gin. Now, with the creation of Baroque, Gerry is finally bringing to fruition his dream of merging the luxury and glamour of a by-gone era with a seriously modern twist.
Having undergone an extensive refurbishment, the venue has been transformed into a sumptuous space oozing luxury. The interior has been designed by CID Interiors and features sophisticated and extravagant decor; displaying golds, ruby reds, magenta pinks, heavy drapes, Louis XIV chairs and antique mirrors. Baroque is finished to the highest possible standard with an undeniably theatrical, flamboyant atmosphere. The round cabaret-style tables sport crisp white tablecloths from which guests are served with the highest degree of care.
Pure decadence is reflected in every aspect of the venue. Guests can pre-order bespoke Champagne towers – a vintage art form which Gerry feels has been sadly neglected in recent decades – complete with the iconic coupette glasses; which legend has, were modelled on the breast of Marie-Antoinette.
Baroque boasts one of the most extensive lists of vintage Champagne in Europe; including such rarities as Salon 1964 and Dom Perignon 1971 along with copious other vintages from throughout the last century. This, incorporated with the impressive Champagne tower experience, will create: `A unique drinking experience which you just won`t get anywhere else in London`- Gerry Calabrese
Complementing the unique vintage Champagne list, Baroque also seamlessly combines past and present through a food and beverage menu which champions` excellence. The cocktail menu is a retro mix of old-school vintage- style martini drinks, all served in the signature coupette glasses as well as Gerry`s innovative signature `infusion jars`.
Past trends are brought up to date with an innovative sharing menu designed to reflect a 1960`s, luxurious Champagne life-style, with opulent cold platters; boasting fresh oysters, fruit de mer, and caviar. The unique dessert assortment delivers a gastronomic slant on classics such as doughnuts, lollipops and cakes; designed to perfectly compliment the infusion cocktails.
Entertainment at Baroque sees a delicious juxtaposition between old and new. Baroque`s live in-house band will raise the roof on a nightly basis, whilst high profile resident DJs such as Adam Ficek (Babyshambles), alongside guest appearances from other celebrated London DJs, are certain to get the party started. In addition, Baroque promises regular special guest performances and secret gigs.
For the best music scene in Mayfair, in an unmatchable atmosphere; there is no other choice than Baroque.
`It`s going to feel like a `rave at the Ritz`, it`ll be fun, theatrical, camp, over the top and a great night out`
