The World Polo Series Makes a Triumphant Return to Hurlingham Park, Central London
On June 4th, 5th and 6th 2010, for only the second time in nearly a century, Hurlingham Park in London hosted more than 32,000 spectators at The World Polo Series MINT Polo in the Park.
The event was a full weekend of entertainment, which included central London`s first ever jousting competition, stunt riders from famous Hollywood blockbusters, military displays from the best of our Armed Forces and to round off there was a number of `skills` events from the polo players, including penalty shoot-outs and the longest-shot at goal. Also, Blake classical Brit award boy band also attended the entire event to perform over the three days for the crowds that came out in force!

Boris Johnson has given this event his seal of approval, saying: `It is 70 years since a polo match was last played at Hurlingham, and it is an exciting prospect to see the sport return to central London. MINT Polo In The Park will add to the wealth of sporting activities that Londoners can enjoy and I hope inspire people to take up this fast-paced and exhilarating sport.`
And, Polo in the Park Ambassador Jodie Kidd says: `I am so delighted that the sport is being developed into the new decade. Last year was such a huge success and a weekend to remember, I can`t wait for the 2010 tournament! At last this incredible adrenalin fuelled game is easy to understand! The new pilot scheme for polo in schools is at last a concerted effort for central London to understand such a beautiful game. It`s not hard to get into as a sport and it is a misconception it is expensive to play.”

With any event like this one, the fashion parade hit a highly glam note with a seriously sultry dress code and it seems maxi dresses were on everybody’s sun kissed minds!
