The Royal Park Hotel, Lima, Peru – Review
The Royal Park Hotel is superbly situated in a beautiful part of the city called San Isidro. How many central city hotels can boast a golf course on their doorstep and benefit from a safe clean location near to all amenities that any international traveller might need?
This hotel thinks of absolutely everything. We were met at the airport and whisked off to the hotel through the rather chaotic traffic in the hotel’s black Mercedes. A very interesting baptism to our first ever South American experience! The facade of The Royal Park Hotel is fairly plain, yet elegant, but stepping though the front door we were greeted with a stunningly impressive backdrop of Art Deco that is warm, stylish and hugely impressive. Check-in formalities were conducted efficiently in a personal and cordial manner.
We were then showed to our room which quite frankly was stunning. The sheer opulence, space and stylish decor with every conceivable amenity provided in the Royal Executive Suite literally blew us away. Exhausted from jet lag we were more than happy to sink into the heavenly crisp white luxurious sheets on the massive bed where we emerged next morning feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. The bedroom is equipped with an LCD and cable TV, a docking system and free speedy Wi-Fi. The bathroom boasts a jacuzzi bath with a multitude of L’Occitaine toiletries. The suite was cleaned and towels were refreshed twice a day. The spacious adjoining room is generously and comfortably furnished should you need to work, have a small business meeting or simply relax.
For larger more formal business meetings the hotel has 4 well resourced meeting rooms. At the end of a long hot day there can be fewer better things to do than take a dip in the outdoor pool, situated on the roof top and enjoying the most amazing views across Lima, followed by an invigorating sauna. A gym with high-tech callisthenic aerobic equipment will satisfy the needs of even the most energetic travellers. There are also full banqueting facilities available.
In addition the hotel offers outstanding Peruvian and international fusion cuisine at the elegantly pristine and intimate Le Moliere restaurant. We enjoyed a romantic memorable dinner in this fine dining establishment which could best be described as a synergy of western and Peruvian cuisine. My first course was a Sea Triad which is a refined Peruvian dish of fresh thinly sliced fish and octopus cooked in lime juice and served with yellow chilli cream and black olive sauce. My wife enjoyed a crab, salmon and avocado causa served with green chilli pepper dressing. This fantastic eating experience continued with sumptuous grilled fish and sautéed asparagus and lamb sirloin served with asparagus risotto. To end this amazing meal we were treated to a fantastic chocolate melt. The restaurant has an extensive wine list which complements and accompanies the dishes superbly, making it a really outstanding culinary experience.
The gracious hospitality provided by the staff of The Park Royal deserves particular mention. Every evening we were presented with a delicious array of canapés and an assortment of fresh fruit. In addition guests in all rooms are invited to enjoy the complimentary drinks and snacks offered in the Executive Lounge. Throughout the hotel we were greeted with huge friendly smiles by a team who really went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It is rare to feel so at home in such a large hotel!
In our opinion the Park Royal Hotel in Lima redefines what constitutes a top quality 5 star hotel. It has every conceivable amenity to make frequent international travellers at home and supremely comfortable and yet it still retains the sense of homeliness that made us feel that we were not only valued guests but also part of the Park Royal family. Quite frankly this was a unique experience and so unlike the very impersonal nature of many 5 star hotels. It is not an exaggeration to say that our stay at the Royal Park Hotel was one of the best we have ever had in our travels around the world.
