Lánchid 19, Budapest – Review

Despite being set against the historic backdrop of Budapest with views over the Danube, the ultra modern Lánchid 19 fits seamlessly into its classical surroundings.

Adopting its address as its title, the hotel nestles on the Buda side of the river – home to narrow streets, leafy hills and most of the city`s top sightseeing attractions, notably the Royal Castle and the opulent Mátyás Church. Just across the Danube lies Pest, which encapsulates not only two thirds of the city but its modern heart too.

Open since 2007, Lánchid 19 is the only official Design Hotel in Budapest – and indeed the whole of Hungary.

Each guest room features a different `wall installation,` which has been inspired by that room`s designer chair. One room boasts wooden yellow poppies on the wall, another features a series of footprints, which are in actual fact the steps to the tango, meaning you and your partner could learn how to dance in the comfort of your own room.

Whether choosing a standard, superior, deluxe room or one of the three panoramic penthouse suites, the rooms are spacious, as well as functional. Generous bathrooms provide the setting for walk-in rain showers and luxurious oval baths. As you`d expect, there are some great design touches, including a thin board that slides out from under the mattress providing the perfect stowaway bedside table.

Lánchid 19 is small enough to provide a very high attention to detail and excellent service and maintains the professionalism of any large hotel – making it the perfect choice for both work and pleasure.
