Is This The Best Way To Start Your Holiday?

If you are looking to flee the snow, drizzle and plummeting temperatures, then there is no better way to start your journey than with No.1 Long access, bookable via HolidayExtras.  On a recent departure from Gatwick South Terminal, we made our way through the throbbing crowds and to the No.1 Lounge. Complete with a panoramic view of the runway, this is about as picturesque as you will get at a British airport!

The lounge  features plush seating, complete with a modern design and flourishes. It’s also a peaceful place, you certainly feel far away from the humdrum of the terminal. There was also a series of rooms splintering off the main area, which were suitable for more studious and quiet activities. All in all, there are nice open spaces, cubby holes to read a book in, a sports room to catch the latest game on the big screen or even spaces optimised for those working on the go.

Your lounge entry includes food from the self-service selection, plus one dish from the made-to-order menu. The self-service food included a selection of fresh fruit, pastries, a gorgeous little range of cheese and biscuits too. Our visit, early one morning, saw us have the option of a small selection of breakfast dishes to order. The selection did seem a little stark, especially when the menu for those in the lounge after 11am was a little more on the eclectic side. Dishes available after 11am included Mezze salads and Chicken & Chorizo stews.

One additional perk to lounge access is the benefits of complimentary drinks, the ideal way to relax before a long flight and to really get into that holiday spirit. At the No.1 Lounge, all drinks are included in the entry fee, this includes a range of premium spirits, including gins, rums and other favourites. However, should you wish to add a glass of Champagne, this will set you back a reasonable £6. Other small perks include newspapers, magazines and unlimited WiFi.

One really nice touch is the lounge’s delay guarantee. This entitles you to access the lounge three hours prior to your flight time and yet allows you to remain, should your flight be delayed. Should you wish to visit the lounge do be careful, they operate a silent approach to travel announcements, therefore there are no announcements made over the tannoy, all notices take place on travel boards around the lounge.

Holiday Extras is the market leader in UK airport parking, hotels, lounges and transfers, and in 2018 customers who pre-booked their parking with Holiday Extras saved an average of £59 each vs the price they’d have paid on the day. Booking an airport hotel ensures that you can enjoy more holiday without the hassle. To book the No1 Lounge South at Gatwick South for £32 per person, visit HolidayExtras.com or call 0800 955 5989.
