The Chester Grosvenor and Spa has set up a boyfriend and husband créche in The Arkle Bar and Lounge as a luxury escape from the January sales.

The Arkle bar is the perfect place to enjoy a pint of Cheshire`s own Eastgate Ale, a spot of brunch or a `Gentleman`s Indulgent Afternoon Tea` complete with chunky chips and cheese platter.

This also means ladies are free to explore Chester`s unique boutiques and historic rows for seasonal bargains, guilt-free.

It`s a win – win for all!

From January 8 the créche is open noon until bedtime Tuesday to Saturday and noon until 6pm Sunday and Monday.

Mark Bevan, assistant food and beverage manager, said: `We expect our creche to be busy with boyfriends and husbands who`ve opted for five-star luxury with us over battling through the crowds and giving a second opinion on clothes. Relaxing in The Arkle with a glass of champagne and doing the crossword is a great way to sit out the sales in Chester.`

Yes, that second opinion on clothes. It’s a minefield!

Daily newspapers and magazines will be on hand to keep your boyfriend or husband occupied and after your fix of retail therapy, you may want to join your partner for a well-earned cocktail.

The Chester Grosvenor could not totally forget the ladies though. The afternoon tea experience – leaf tea served in silver tea pots, a selection of sandwiches and delicate French pastries is a more than suitable alternative to the Gentleman`s créche.
