Brasserie Roux Review at Sofitel London Heathrow Terminal 5

Having already been introduced to La Brasserie restaurant at Sofitel London Gatwick I was raring to go and dine in 5-star luxury at Brasserie Roux Sofitel London Heathrow, which unexpectedly is situated in Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.

The restaurant opened just 6 months ago and can be found comfortably nestled inside Sofitel London Heathrow, a luxury 5-star hotel. It was surprisingly easy to find (even in the dark) and lies nearby the arrivals entrance area. For travellers staying at this hotel its within walking distance of Terminal 5 and has superb transport links into central London, it`s not far from the royal borough of Windsor so its perfectly located for business or pleasure means.

After being shown the way to the restaurant we settled in our seats at the far end of the restaurant right next to the water feature and selected some mouth-watering dishes from Albert Roux’s beloved French inspired menu.

Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we admired the interior, it seemed very comforting and used some of my favourite colours in the furnishings such as dark brown, deep aubergine and calming neutrals, which created a slight contemporary yet oriental feel. The restaurant felt spacious and is set in an airy glass atrium yet it managed to maintain an intimate subdued atmosphere. Amazingly you couldn`t hear any sounds of aeroplanes taking off or landing and it`s very easy to forget that you`re in fact dining inside any kind of airport surroundings at all!

Shortly after, our starters of foie gras combining figs and lobster bisque arrived, which we took time to enjoy, followed by the main course of rack of lamb. All choices were absolutely delicious and in true French style came with precise presentation and tasted beautifully rich. We finished with two delightful desserts; a savoury cheeseboard and heartwarming apple crumble with ice cream, which topped off our fun and relaxing evening. Brasserie Roux isn`t open on Sundays so bear this in mind when booking but the rest of the time it`s open from 1200-1430 for lunch and from 1800-2230 for evening dining.
