Spirit Of Manchester Distillery launch their first whisky, OnePointSix
With huge successes under their belt in the form of Manchester Spirit Vodka and One-Eyed Rebel Rum, The Spirit of Manchester Distillery has announced its move into whisky production, with the launch of its first ever single malt English whisky, OnePointSix.
Combining English roasted and kilned malts, which, after a longer-than-average four-day fermentation period give the whisky a distinctive and fruity flavour profile, this is set to be an absolute belter, and aligns beautifully to the ever increasing interest in English whiskies.
Following distillation, the spirit is then matured in first-fill bourbon, STR red wine and sherry casks. This combination of casks, along with the unique blend of malts will create a rich, fruity flavour profile added to create a unique and innovative flavour, is then left to mature for a minimum of over three years. The recipe contains a mix of distiller’s malts and brewers malts, and the combination of casks helps give a rich complexity to even a relatively young single malt.
Named after Leonardo Fibonacci’s golden ratio, OnePointSix will be casked this July, with the first bottle available for drinkers to enjoy in 2025.
The award-winning distillery is also giving whisky buffs and drinks enthusiasts the chance to share in the unique experience of developing a new single malt whisky with its Founders’ Club, which will launch later this summer. Watch this space!
The exclusive OnePointSix Founders Club will provide tiered benefits, starting at £30, including regular updates, an annual distillery tours, samples of the whisky in progress, from new make, founders cask, one year old and two-year-old. Entry level members can enjoy a distillery tour and a sample of the whisky new make for just £30 per year.
