Paxton & Whitfield– Perfect After Dinner Cheeses
Paxton & Whitfield is a producer of fine cheeses with a lengthy and impressive history. The partnership was first recorded in 1797 and since then the brand has gone on to receive a Royal

Festive Collection £100
A tantalising and tempting selection of seasonal cheeses and Christmas favourites, the Festive Collection is the ideal ensemble to any Christmas meal. Cheeses included in the set are the signature Paxton & Whitfield Stilton Jar and the delicious Mont d’Or. Mont d’Or is a French cow’s cheese that is soft enough to eat with a spoon and is characterised by fluffy white moulds. Deliciously rich and creamy with a hint of mushroom.

For Christmas 2017, we love the Christmas Selection Boxes (from £9.95 for a box of 9 chocolates; £14.95 for 16 chocolates or £19.95 for 25 chocolates). Each box is full of freshly made handmade chocolates, featuring some of their best sellers and flavours. Christmas Cascade of 50 chocolates (below, £42.50): A stunning tiered stack of all three Christmas selection boxes tied with satin ribbon containing a total of 50 fresh chocolates from their Christmas Collection.
For 2017, the Christmas selection boxes will include:
- Fizzy Pudding– a domed milk chocolate pudding, complete with naturally coloured sugarpaste holly leaf, filled with spiced praline and popping candy. This was our favourite of the lot – exciting, vibrant and oozing with surprises.
- Gingerbread Caramel – 2016 Gold Academy of Chocolate winner. A liquid caramel made with treacle, allspice, cloves, ginger and cinnamon.
- Fig & Port – 2016Gold International Chocolate Awards winner. Dried figs steeped in Noval 10-year-old Tawny Port with honey and cinnamon, blended with Madagascan dark chocolate.

Rosebud Preserves – Ideal Christmas Chutneys
Chutneys and preserves are the unsung heroes of the Christmas dinner table and usually go unnoticed. However, Rosebud Preserves, who have been making jams, marmalades, chutneys and jellies since 1989, have created a cracking range of festive goodies for 2017. The North Yorkshire based company use locally sourced produce (where possible), traditional recipes and techniques, and no additives or preservatives for the most authentic and classic taste.
This Christmas we highly recommended their Christmas Fruit Chutney for an indulgently rich accompaniment. Packed full of prunes, dates, apricots, aromatic allspice and strong dark ale, this is a taste of the Winter season. Gorgeous! However, if you are looking for something to have with cold roast ham, try their juicy Fig Chutney, with molassed sugar, warm cinnamon and fresh orange. The orange cutting through the sugar for a deliciously well-balanced taste.
