Home House – luxury members club, London
Home House is a luxury private members clubs with a rich cultural history. Originally created for Elizabeth Countess of Home in the late eighteenth century, number 19, 20 and 21 Portman Square, encompass three Georgian town-houses that fuse old-world glamour and sophistication with a modern twist.
Whilst this exclusive venue may emanate an impressive opulence, it also offers members and guests a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, to pardon the cliché – it is a home, from home.
Unlike other London private members clubs, Home House avoids the typically stuffy rules and regulations, and instead house a myriad of pleasure from the on-site gym, to restaurants, bars and an array of decadent party rooms as well as bedrooms and suites.
The three components that make up Home House have differing offerings to appeal to any budding member. No. 19 boasts Jeremy Brown, formerly of The Ritz, as head chef of the brasserie style restaurant – champion of seasonal British food, Brown offers everything from breakfasts for one to lavish banquet-style feasts. The Bison Bar is a quiet retreat on the ground floor – perfect for unwinding over an aprés-work cocktail through to late-night debauchery.
Perhaps the most iconic of the three, No. 20, is home to the magnificently kept gardens, perfect for summer strolls, and of course the infamous staircase, as designed by one of the founders, Robert Adams, that leads to the equally impressive drawing rooms. If No.20 is the classic, traditional site, then No. 21 is surely it`s younger, trendier and finger-on-the-pulse sister. A boutique health and fitness club care for members` well-being, whilst the two executive lounges play host to an eclectic mix of those relaxing over the newspapers, to those working furiously away on their tablet or iPad – it`s truly a home to all. Asian-fusion dining is served up in The Octagon Dining Room and the two bars are always playing host to events or just after-work glee. House 21 is the stylish cocktail bar designed by Dame Zaha Hadid and various rooms within No.21 are hidden in the subterranean depths of the bar with DJ`s and live music sets making merry in this underground metropolis.
A busy and exciting calendar of events ensures members are never short of things to keep them occupied, but if you`re not looking to become a member but fancy yourself as hosting an event, then this isn`t out of reach either. From fashion shows, baby showers, book launches and cocktails parties, Home House offers the ultimate glamorous backdrop.
