Densuke Black Watermelon Sells For $6100
A variety of black watermelon called a “Densuke” has been sold in Japan for a record $6,100 – record price for a watermelon.
The 17 pound behemoth was grown on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and reportedly bought by someone who “who wanted to support local agriculture ” according to the Kyodo News agency.
Apparently, the dark skin of the Densuke and it’s unsurpassable flavour mark it apart from other varieties of watermelons.
