Ferg & Harris Wings of Kintyre: a whisky that tells a story
Every so often, a whisky comes along that isn’t just a drink, but a piece of art. That’s exactly what Ferg & Harris have unveiled with Wings of Kintyre — their most extraordinary creation yet, made especially for the 2025 Distillers One of One charity auction. Register here.
This isn’t your average bottle pulled from the shelf. It’s a 31-year-old Springbank single cask, finished in an organic cognac barrel from the Champagne region. Imagine orchard fruits, gentle spice, and the sea-kissed character of Campbeltown coming together in one dram — that’s the kind of alchemy we’re talking about.

And the outside is just as breathtaking as the spirit within. Think 14-carat gold detailing, Victorian sea glass on the neck, and an asymmetrical stopper that looks like it belongs in a gallery. The bottle sits inside a hand-crafted oak case, fronted with stained glass inspired by the wild beauty of the Kintyre peninsula — when lit up, it practically sings.
But here’s the best part: it’s all for a good cause. The Distillers One of One auction raises funds for the Youth Action Fund, supporting disadvantaged young people across Scotland. So every bid, every ounce of excitement, feeds back into something bigger than whisky.
For the lucky winner, the prize doesn’t stop at the bottle. There’s a private tasting with Ferg & Harris co-founder Alex Harrison, the very cask the whisky was finished in, and even little wax-sealed ampoules so the moment can be savoured slowly.
A whisky that tastes good, looks good, and does good? That’s something worth raising a glass to.

Wings of Kintyre Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich Amber – A soft, golden hue with warm undertones.
Nose
Opens with welcoming aromas of freshly baked malted biscuits. Notes of creamy vanilla and light baking spices add warmth and finesse. As the whisky breathes, layers of baked orchard fruits such as spiced apple tart and stewed pears come forward, underscored by a gentle wooded depth.
Palate
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 47.6% ABV, the whisky opens with notes of lightly sweetened oat biscuits, followed by ginger warmth, vanilla custard, and golden raisins. A burst of baked apple and citrus zest provides lift, while the enhanced oak contact from the small cask imparts an elegant backbone of toasted wood, nutmeg, and a hint of dry roasted almonds.
Finish
The finish is long, clean, and structured, echoing with flavours of toasted oats, dry ginger spice, and a crisp, refreshing citrus peel sharpness.
