Scapa Launches New Glansa Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The current spell of Winter weather has resulted in some seriously cold nights and bitter mornings. One thing that may just ease the pain of the freezing temperatures is a wee dram of this new tipple. And we are talking about the cold nights, rather than the bitter mornings, of course!
Introducing the exciting Glansa Single Malt Scotch Whisky, from Scapa’s boutique range of artisanal malts. Having only just launched, we already think this single malt may be a big hit in 2017.
Hand crafted and high quality
Scapa describes itself as a boutique range of artisanal malts influenced by the orcadian elements’ and there is a lot to be enthused by. Deriving influence from the stunning and naturally vibrant area of Orkney, Scapa has a unique sense of spirit and place. Plus, real care and passion is hand poured into the crafting of each drop, all the way from milling to distillation.
Glansa is the latest offering from Scapa, as the brand looks to grow upon the success of the very popular Scapa Skiren. But what is different?
The latest release has been crafted by taking the signature smooth fruity malt, which is aged in American Oak casks and then resting it in peated casks to create a richness and depth that give way to a subtle smoky finish.
In fact, Scapa Glansa is named after the Old Norse word for shining storm-laden skies, awakening the senses with its smooth fruity textures juxtaposed with the richness and depth from the peated casks it is rested in.
On those nose you will get sweet notes of peach, pineapple and vanilla. Plus a hint of subtle bonfire smoke. On the palate, peach flavours make an appearance once more, yet there are also hints of creamy caramel and a softer smoke flavour. The finish is long and notably smoky. Perfect for the Winter weather and any discerning connoisseur!
Scapa Master Distiller, Brian MacAulay says…
Scapa Master Distiller, Brian MacAulay says “Scapa Glansa is the perfect invitation for whisky lovers to discover the Orcadian landscape. We are proud to offer this as a gentle introduction to the world of peated whiskies, and it has been a real pleasure drawing on the inspiration of the unexpected contrasts of Orkney to create Scapa Glansa. It perfectly complements the non-peated single malt Scapa Skiren, which was launched earlier this year as an expression of the islands natural elements”
