The Waldorf Hilton, London – Review
The Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London is a luxuriously elegant hotel strategically placed in one of the most sought after places in London. Just step out of the door and you are immediately surrounded by many of the entertaining attractions that London is so famous for. However, it is not just it`s place in the heart of London`s Theatre land that makes the Waldorf stand out from the crowd. It is truly an iconic statement of opulent splendor, literally oozing class and sophistication.
As we passed through the doors from the outside world we were assaulted by the eminent architectural splendor and the sense that we were being transported back in time to an age of elegance perhaps sometimes forgotten in our modern computer age. However, please don`t get the impression that somehow the Waldorf Hilton is locked in a time warp; there is a very real sense that the hotel applauds innovation, evidenced by the availability of every possible amenity that you could ever need in the comfortable and elegant accommodation. Every room boasts wall mounted plasma television screens, full connectivity via telephone lines, high speed internet access, mini bar, safe, complementary hot drinks and an overall impression of a modern elegance wrapped in an environment of subtle colours and innovative materials. Everything from the exclusive Crabtree and Evelyn products in the superbly fitted bathroom to the light space and feel of modern elegance give the indelible impression that the Waldorf Hilton truly values it`s guests by providing the best possible and inspiring environment.
We were lucky enough to enjoy access to the very refined and stylish executive area where throughout the day we enjoyed a wide variety of snacks and drinks provided by the very attentive and welcoming staff. During the afternoon we joined many of the people enjoying a Champagne tea in the aptly named Homage Bar. We were guided through this wonderful culinary extravaganza by staff who almost lovingly described the wide range of exquisitely prepared delicacies.
After an evening of celebrating the very best in British comedy we settled back into the warm blend of modernity and deeply comfortable environment that was our room. All hotels try to boast a `home from home atmosphere,` but few rarely achieve the level of comfort and sense of relaxation that we encountered at the Waldorf Hilton. After an amazingly good nights sleep enveloped in one of the most comfortable beds we have ever had the pleasure to sleep in, we made our way to the stunningly restored inspiring splendor of `The Palm Court.` It would be very easy for us to descend into a cacophony of superlatives to describe our breakfast experience. Suffice to say that again it was one of the best we have every enjoyed in any hotel that we have stayed in anywhere in the world.
Our stay at the Waldorf Hilton was far too short. We really wanted to continue to enjoy the superb service, iconic grandeur, relaxing environment and the sense of systemic history in the true beating heart of London. However it was an unforgettable experience and one which we would like to repeat in the future.
